Casuarina Beach- Jaffna, Sri Lanka
Located...
Casuarina
beach lies at the northern end of Karainagar earlier known as Karaitivu, One of
the many islands scattered around the Jaffna peninsula. The Karainagar
causeway, a three kilometer stretch of paved road, connects the island with the
main land. The lagoon on either side of the causeway was fitted with fish
traps, forming a maze of sorts and fisherman waded the waters for their day’s
catch.
Reaching
the end of the causeway, a signboard welcomed us to Karainagar. The Casuarina
beach is just a few kilometers away, we are told by locals who pint us in its
direction. Palmyrah trees, common to northern Sri Lanka, towered over us, and
we drove along admiring the grand decors made using Palmyrah palms that adorned
the fences of the houses along the way.

Quiet place to see-bath…
The
beach itself didn’t disappoint. Long and Wide, in character its still waters
resembled a large lake or pond. Stretching out before me, towards the distant
horizon, was a clear pool of blue. There were hardly any waves! No waves,
rather, to be precise. And ideal for a quiet see-bath.
As I stood at the edge of the beach, waiting to dip my feet in the waters. I had to be patient. The gentle stream seemed to flow with ease, at its own pace, as if inviting me to stay there longer. The few families who had gathered at the beach, walked far in to the shallow waters, their chatter the only form of noise in this otherwise serene setting.
it was for the first time in this beach. good sea bath . but not like in passikudha.
